SHOOTING VI CONSORTIUM
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— A shooting incident that occurred after 5:00 PM in the Clifton Hill area on St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) has left a woman dead, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed late Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots being fired in the Clifton Hill community, and moved to contact the 911 emergency call centre at about 5:25 PM, according to Mr Dratte. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene; she was shot at least four times about the body.
Police had cordoned off the Clifton Hill entrance across from the container port road. The Estate Profit entrance road across from the Diageo Rum factory was open, but further up that road, an entrance leading inside the Clifton Hill community was also blocked by officers, as detectives were investigating a portion of the crime scene where a white car that had been damaged by bullets had stopped.
Sometime after 6:00 PM, an ambulance carrying the victim who died after being shot while in the vehicle, left the scene. Although two people were in the car, only the female victim was injured, according to police.
The force is currently withholding the deceased victim’s identity, pending next of kin notification, according to Mr Dratte.
Police are asking anyone with information about this shooting that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators, to contact the force at 340-778-2211, or send you anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI, where information you provide may lead to a substantial financial reward.St Kitts Crime News
